My company currently uses RealPage (OneSite) for our on-site operations and MRI for our accounting software. I am a member of a committee that is researching and looking into different options for one program/software that does both. We were initially weighing out three options for both operations and accounting: MRI, RealPage, and Yardi. After our first meeting, we voted to eliminate Yardi as an option and now we are tasked with comparing MRI and RealPage.
I'd like to solicit some feedback from everyone for both software programs that I may use to help make my decision and that I could also bring back to our committee.
We used Yardi Genesis at our company for 20+ years. When the time came to make a switch to a cloud based and more integrated property management system, all signs pointed towards RealPage. We've been using RealPage for almost a year now and I can say that everything from the transition, to support, to usability is fantastic. Extremely easy to use, access controls to limit who sees what, fantastic client portal, and the BEST support staff I have ever seen for any software suite.
I only have one con...I am appalled that we are still forced to use Internet Explorer in today's day and age. OneSite Accounting works fine on chrome/firefox/etc, but Leasing & Rents will only work on Internet Explorer. This is frustrating considering there are far better browsers available. Also a setback if your company is migrating to Mac (like ours).
Feel free to reach out if you have more specific questions for a new user
I have used MRI in the past and was glad when I did not have to interact with it anymore. Yardi was used at a previous company and while the UI was fine, it did not seem to be "Enterprise" based, but more sm to med business. RealPage does not write the accounting package for their software, rather they have a partnership with a 3rd party firm that allows them to directly integrate data to/from OneSite, et al.
Having dealt with the integration headaches that would come up from time to time while working with a "disconnected" accounting package, I really appreciated the tight integration that came from RealPage & their accounting software.
Without question, you should setup an in-house demo with the sales rep that services your location. Having a hands-on experience makes a huge difference. You may love features that I hated and vice-versa.
I see that you mentioned YARDI and Realpage. Those are the two software that I'am considering about implementing towards my property management business. Do you have any other input on these software such as the accounting, reporting, userfriendly, or any online issues? and how about going from the traditional way of doing business to a web based software? I could really use the help!
