Have any of you been tremendously successful increasing your FB "Likes"? I've had a contest for residents that solicited the most friends to Like us in the past but it was extremely difficult and time consuming counting them all to determine a winner. I'm hoping some of you have alternate ideas that have proven successful.
Just out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to have more "likes"? Or maybe should I should ask how do you feel that having promotions for more likes will benefit your page/community?
We have offered "no app fee" if a prospect likes our community facebook page at the time of visit. Not so much just to increase the number of likes, but to help build an active community page. Our facebook pages are one way we get necessary information out to our residents... any leasing activity (prospect found us on facebook) is simply a bonus.
We get likes by putting an ad up on craigslist with no contact information except our facebook page link. Without contact information, prospects are forced to click through to the facebook page (where they will hopefully "like" it) to get information.
Other things we do are "like" other businesses from our business page. People on facebook tend to check to see what other businesses are fans of their own favorites. Also, we comment on other business pages posts, and occasionally on local news articles. I created a "QR code" for our facebook page to put on our front door and brochures so make it easy to "like" our page from a phone.
I have been on facebook longer than most communities, and I haven't found a quick way to get a lot of fans. For an 80 unit property, I think our 150+ likes is a success. Only about 10% of our fans are residents.
*Contests, not everything has to be a grand giveaway. Sometimes small things like t-shirts or free pizzas can win residents over. Also, entries into early bird special where residents can receive $50 off of rent works too!
*Sharing funny photos or videos. Don't get too whacky but something that appeals to residents.
*Asking questions, a little more about stimulating your community but sometimes asking fun questions can get "like's"
*Connecting your instagram, pintetest or Twitter accounts to your facebook posts is a good way to get crossover "like's"
* Post local events around the community. Before facebook my past apartment would always send me information regarding different local events like farmers market, concerts, sporting events, and kids free events.
You can also do the paid page promotion or just the "boost a post" promotion.
Both are relatively inexpensive.
We are a lease up and this took us from 42 likes to 336likes (as of today) in just 3-4 days with aprox 12 direct inquiries so far and 2 applications.
