Just dealt with a resident and their car alarm going off in the parking lot at 10:47pm.

I think it's good to find out which residents that have installed car alarms either when they're about to enter a lease or renew their lease. Now to figure out how to note this in Yardi or their paperwork.

Do car alarms generally continue to go off for hours like they used to? I thought they generally would go off just for a short period and shut off.

Depends on the setting. We had a resident once whose car alarm was set to constant alarm (until the battery ran out!) and the most hyper-sensitive setting. Whenever a large truck or louder motorcycle would go by on the road outside, "BEEP BEEP BEEP! BOOOOOOP BOOOOOOP BOOOOOP! Bwaaaaank! Bwaaaaaank!"

And of course, he had taken the bus into work that day.

That's when the friendly neighborhood Police Officer comes by, deems it a nuisance, and you can call the tow truck contracted to the community to tow it.

After the third time, he finally changed the settings.
