Designations, designations, designations everywhere. Who exactly do we think we are in the property management industry and why do we need so many designations. Through IREM we have the CPM designation, ARM designation,. BOMA has the RPA designation, NAA has the CAPS and CAM designations. What do you think most useful of these designations are and for what purposes?
That's easy! IREM's CPM® designation is the oldest and most respected in the industry, crossing all real estate types and international borders (

). If you are already a CCIM, PCAM, RPA or the like, you may fast-track the educational requirements to earn the CPM® designation. For more information, follow this link:

Thank for you answer. So my next question is what designation to you think is most appropriate for onsite staff at an apartment community. Is the CPM In you opinion still best suited?
The ARM® designation is the stepping stone to earning the CPM® designation for residential managers. The experience, reference and ethics requirement and RES201 course training are excellent. However, I would be remiss for not mentioning NAA's highly regarded CAM accreditation. NAA is the only trade association to offer training and accreditation for leasing (NALP) and service staff (CAMT), too. For the scoop on NAA accreditation, follow this link:
