How long should it take.....

I am expecting to start the coursework to earn the Accredited Residential Manager designation from the IREM as soon as funding from the VA gets established. I plan on doing the self paced online method to complete the coursework and would like to know how long it should realistically take to finish and what a reasonable expectation should be?

I think they outline that for you as to how long the course should last. Normally they tell you this up front if it is self paced that you have up to a certain date to finish a course. Some people based upon their experience finish faster than others.

How much a person has on their plate and how motivated they are will have a huge impact on how long it takes. Some people on here could give you a real short time and someone else may give a longer time. I think it all bools down to the individual! Their reality may not be yours and the other way is also true.

One thing I know is from the short time I have looked at your postings and the short emails we have with each other you will bull through it with no problems, even though I think I once read you were more a hands on guy if you had your preference.

You are right on all counts.. I am a hands on kind of person; but sometimes it is not enough when competing with individuals that may actually have college degrees, yet are less intelligent than ice cubes (you know the type; I have even trained the type when I worked retail). I am simply looking to add an official credential to my list of achievements; and I do not believe a college degree is any indication of competency in terms of job performance.

I was simply looking for an idea of how long it should take on average as the materials I have been able to read have not given an indication.

My sister is taking classes with the University of Phoenix and they are on a 5 week cycle; she completes one course every 5 weeks and is not scheduled to complete her program until December of 2013.

John, have you checked out your local apartment association and asked them? Might be a good start to get the answer quicker.
