Helping Apt Residents Deal With Extreme Cold: Winter's Bomb Cyclone

Helping Apt Residents Deal With Extreme Cold: Winter's Bomb Cyclone

As the East Coast continues to deal with an extreme freeze, the Bainbridge Companies shares the following cold weather precautions and procedures to keep its residents safe and warm:

·       Pitch In: When cold weather and extreme snow storms hit, it is important for everyone to pitch in as the maintenance and leasing staff can’t handle it all themselves. Residents should be expected to do the following:

o   Clear snow around and in between vehicles.

o   Place snow onto grassy areas.

o   Not place snow onto sidewalks, roadways, fire hydrants or other areas that have already been cleared.

o   Remove snow and ice from your driveway.

·       Space Heaters: If utilizing a space heater to help further heat your apartment home, please read the manufacturer’s instructions and warning labels carefully. Some key things to consider are:

o   Keep it at least three feet away from any other object – including papers, clothing and rugs – and maintain a three-foot radius around the space heaters where children and pets are not allowed.

o   Place space heaters on level, flat surfaces. Never place heaters on cabinets, tables, furniture or carpet. Be sure to never leave a space heater unattended, and turn it off when you’re leaving a room or going to sleep.

o   Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or power strip, which could overheat. Do not plug any other electrical devices into the same outlet as the heater.
