Judy Bellack Thank you for addressing this sometimes volatile topic, Rick. As a Christian myself, I don't take offense when someone says "Happy Holidays," and quite frankly am very puzzled by people who do take offense. My husband happens to be Jewish, and he takes no offense when someone says "Merry Christmas" because he appreciates the sentiment behind the greeting; however, he really appreciates the thoughtfulness when someone says "Happy Holidays." I wholeheartedly agree with you that we should focus on the inherent core truths rather than the greeting itself. It does not take away from the season to say Happy Holidays when one doesn't know the religion (or lack thereof) of the person being greeted, and is certainly more inclusive.
