I am looking at a ledger with about 25 entries for former residents who left owing money as far back as 2011. The total is over $23000, with a number of these entries over 4 figures.

Has anyone used www.rentrecoveryservice.com with any success?

We currently use rent recover. Of course here in Indiana, depending on where you are, laws might be different, but you can go back as far as 10 years. The jury is still out as far as how well they are doing for us, as you only receive 40% of what they collect and they keep 60%, but if you did not have anything to start with, something is better than nothing. I have turned over collections to them and gave them current job information on one of them and have not seen activity yet. In the past we had turned collections over to a collections attorney with better results. Perhaps because local seems to yield better results. Hope this helps! I feel the most important thing is something that shows on their credit report so other apartment or rental communities have that information.
