I'd like to get experience in affordable housing, but I'm having trouble breaking into the part of the industry (because I lack experience). Is anyone aware of a certification/education program I might pursue to ehance my knowledge...and my resume?

Find someone that is willing to train you. Or someone that is looking for good customer service background on indeed in the apartment industry. Be willing to work weekends to answer there phone and service whatever prospect that may come thru the doors. If you find a company like that, they are willing to train you in the business.
