Hello all! We are going to be replacing all the siding on our 20 year old property and are going to replace the lights at the same time. We want to get the most efficient and long lasting bulbs as they are on the third floor. Has anyone had success with LED lights, or if not, what have you found works well?

Thanks for any feedback!

LED lighting is leaps and bounds beyond the old fashioned style of incandescent or even halogen bulbs. If you do a Google Search under relamping you will find a tremendous amount of info. There are even rebates from Electrical Cooperatives and tax incentives available throughout different areas of the Country. We recently relamped the entire Jefferson City Visitors and Convention Bureau offices with new ballasts and T8 bulbs for a fraction of what it should have cost thanks to Utility Company rebates and incentives.

We have several lighting/electrical distributors locally (there will be some near you as well) that work hand in hand to complete "lighting audits". There is usually no charge for the audit and they will recommend the best light source as well as yearly estimated cost and expected life span. Of course they expect you to buy your material from them, but the material rates are usually much less than buying from a retail home center - especially when buying in bulk quantities. Good luck :)

We have changed a few. some people do not like the hue they give off (cool).

They are crazy expensive, like 14 bux for a 15 watt bulb. supposed to outlast fluorescents and use less energy too.

I specialize in upgrading multifamily properties in the Seattle area to energy efficient lighting. I can discuss my choice of fixtures for different situations. Just give me some detailed information about existing fixture and location and I will try to point you in the right direction.
