Greentech Heat Solutions or Orkin for Bed Bugs? was created by Marsha Hildebrand
We are in Southern California and have a bed bug problem in one of our buildings! We need help really fast, but I don't know much about bed bug treatment. In my search, I found Greentech Heat Solutions, which seemed to focus on bedbugs, but I didn't know if they would be better than a "big brand" like Orkin. I don't mind giving business to a company I am not familiar if I have heard others with good experiences, but I don't want to just jump in "bed" with them. But as you know, we are under the gun on this! Or maybe there is another provider who might work better? Anybody please chime in!

The heat works good but we use a spray from the pest control but it will not do any good if the tenants don't wash their linen, clothes, etc and it has to be repeated in 7-10 days

Spray the mattresses and base boards and anything you can including behind the outlet plates with bed bug spray then fog the apartment. Once everything is dry then Dust everything with Diatomaceous Earth. Dust everything you sprayed including mattresses and put mattress bags on. This is quite a bit of work but it's cheaper to do it this way.

If it is an extreme case then the furniture needs to be destroyed and not just given away. Also the carpet may need to be replaced but that is just in an extreme case

Thanks everyone! But one thing I was hoping for was feedback specifically for either Greentech Heat Solutions or Orkin. Has anyone worked with them for bed bug treatments?

We use Orkin for all of our pest issues, including Bed Bugs. We have had 3 apartments that have had bed bugs, and Orkin has treated all. They will schedule 2 treatments, 2 weeks apart. They provided us with a pre-treatment prep list to give to the tenants to complete. We have never had any issues with bugs returning or spreading to any adjacent apartments. I would recommend Orkin.

Greentech heat sells equipment and training for heat treatments. Non-chemical. they do not offer service. Two different directions. DIY or hire a service. If you have frequent problems, DIY is the way to go.

I have used Green Tech Heaters for over 5 years now. They are very user friendly and with little training you can go far in successfully getting rid of bed bugs. May i suggest speak with Dr. Linford himself and he can help you get set up in apartment situations.

Looks like this is an older thread, but I'm pretty sure that nowadays Orkin is not interested in bed bugs jobs. They quoted me about 3x higher than other pest control companies in my area and it was JUST for a spray treatment.... If you are going to treat with only sprays, just DIY. There's tons of good free videos and resources to get it done in the same way Orkin will. Plus they're going to use products that you can easily purchase yourself like Crossfire or Delta Dust. The problem is that spray only treatments take a few months to see results and are not as effective. Not an option for my family and our apartment complex. Greentech manufactures and sells DIY heaters, which is way more effective for killing bed bugs. If it is a recurring issue then I would buy a heater thru Greentech and take advantage of their training. That's what we did for our apartment complex so if an issue ever comes up, we can jump on it right away and prevent spread. Otherwise I would hire a bed bug specialist (not general pest control) to take care of it. But yes Greentech is easily the best producer of bed bug heaters and you can retrain any new apartment or hotel maintenance staff if you have turnover, which was really helpful for us.
