Does anyone know of a process or product that restores scratched glass stove tops? We’ve been replacing a lot of them lately at a cost of $377.00 just for the glass top. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could try using fine automotive rubbing compound and a buffer.

Chris Finetto We’ve tried this and depending on the depth of the scratches it has worked, but not on all.

Kim Cook Wiggins We’ve used this on stainless steel surfaces, but I’m not sure if that’s for glass too. ????

Charge the resident what you pay to have it replaced! It wasn’t like that when they moved in. Once they pay it it’s like you didn’t spend anything????????‍♂️

Jesus Espinoza We have, but that’s a conversation I’d prefer not to have all the time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard it’s “normal wear and tear” ???? and then they don’t pay and we have to send to collections.

Eventually it’d be paid... may not be the most convenient but it’s better to just have it replace rather than to move in a picky resident and deal with them later on.

If someone had a house and they didn’t like the scratches they caused they’d have to come out of pocket to fix it or replace it. It shouldn’t be any different just because they’re in an apartment ????????‍♂️ I’ve had residents live in a unit for more than one or 2 lease terms and their appliances were in great condition

Sadly once they're scratched there is nothing you can do:/ we even leave the cleaning supplies and directions on the counter for them when they move in and still they get damaged. I believe they were the worst invention ever... Especially for apartment living????

Google it I believe they have special wipes for it. Also read instructions on anything you use could cause fire if you use wrong chemical.

Put the Cerama Bryte kits with the little scraper tool in your welcome gift. After one use, the tenants will be motivated to keep buying and using it on their own.

Do you have to replace them? We just polish them up and don’t replace unless they’re cracked. But we don’t have A properties either and that could make a difference.

The scratches are from using heavy iron skillets on glass tops need to disclose no iron skillets at move in and on lease.

Try WD-40 and a scrubbing pad. Some of that will clear up. My maintenance tech does it a lot and it works like a charm.

If it’s damage we just replace it. I’m a A property and we tell residents at move in what not to use on the glass tops. If it’s damaged it is taken from security. :/. Good luck. Nothing ever worked on ours.

There’s a company we use here in Atlanta the has a product they use to restore these. I’ll reach out to them and ask. We pay $120 to have them restored and charge back the resident

Maybe sell the scratched ones and replace with coil stoves? It sounds like it’s not that much more than your repair cost to buy a new one and then you can make some money back on selling the old one.
