Buy the 2 inch blinds they rarely have to be replaced. Or put up solar screens so you can see it from outside.

I have almost a decade of dealing with soldiers who love to destroy blinds. You issue a demand to the resident for property damage and tell them it is a requirement that the window treatments are maintained, as they are covered in the lease agreement under the damages clause. Otherwise they are welcome to move out as indicated in the demand, and they are subject to multiple fees. They get upset, but you just simply remind them that they are renting, not buying. Then you tell them that they are required to either replace them at their own cost IMMEDIATELY, or we replace it at our cost immediately and charge back for it. This is not up for negotiation.

The vanes can be replaced but the labor involved is typically greater than replacement cost.

Charge them back while they are in the home and replace them, and if it happens again, they get replaced and buy them again.

We made them pay $10.00 for each one we replaced. We put a letter on the door gave them 24 hours to replace them or we would at $10. for each one.

2" faux wood blinds. Rarely have to replace. They hold up better with pets also.

Agree with all of the 2” faux wood blinds. They are much sturdier. Last longer. Easier to clean when your cleaning crews come in. They only time we really needed to replace was when the pull cords would snap. This only started happening due to age around the 5 year Mark.

I use the faux wood and the most common ones broken are the patio door ones and they cost $37 to replace. Tell the resident up front what they are and what they cost.

Put in blinds equal to the finishes of the rest of the unit and what quality of resident you are trying to attract. From then on out the cost of damages will be the responsibility of the resident majority of the time. The key is to not wait until they move out. Replace whenever they are broken.

I keep several in the storage closet, right by the new drip pans for the stoves. Pop out the old and snap in the new. Charge the tenant $20 each.

Go with a faux wood 2” (at least 2”) blinds.....rarely replace and when need to (it happens in multi family) you CAN replace INDIVIDUAL SLATS instead o the whole mechanism!
