I currently manage a small waterfront property that was built in the 1920's. It's a very charming property, but the kitchens are starting to look a little tired. The owner is interested in doing some updates, but we don't want to go all out. Are there vendors out there who do the whole thing? I'm thinking of just re-facing cabinets, new countertops and possibly new flooring. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Crystal,

Where is your property? I represent a 30 year old company that does exactly this type of work. You can call me, I am a sponsor of this great website (MI).

Check with the local Apartment Association. I'll bet they can help you find someone!

Your plan sounds reasonable, but I'd also check the plumbing and update it where necessary to prevent any future issues.

What type of flooring were you considering for your project?

What condition are your counter tops in? Would it be possible to refinish them? I've started having ours upgrades with a spray on "faux flecl finish". It looks great, holds up well, and only cost me about $265 per unit.

I have a finish put on mine, too. They are the old "butcher-block" look countertops with a breakfast bar. The paint comes in 6 finishes. Costs $145 per unit (I don't have many countertops).

Huge improvement! Residents love it! I have seen it abused and it took the finish off. It chips pretty easily, but most have worn well.

Takes about 30-45 minutes.
