I see contests run on Facebook Pages daily and most of them don't seem to adhere to Facebook's Promotions Guidelines.

-Did you know that even mentioning a contest on your Facebook Wall in most cases is against these guidelines?

I had no idea! I run contests all the time..best photo ect. I do definately care because I don't want my page shut down, time to do some research I guess. Any other Nuggets of Wisdom about Facebook guidelines?

Hi Chrystal,

I think Facebook put these guidelines in place to shift the liability away from them and onto the 3rd party app that runs the contest.

If you can't follow these guidelines completely, probably best to host the details elsewhere, like on your blog or website.
