I'm creating a training manual here for "things that can go wrong in Yardi." This would be something for fairly new users, such as:
--How to fix a wrong delinquent amount (zero-dollar receipt needed)
--Why a resident status is not correct (was changed on resident screen drop-down menu instead of through a process)
etc.

It's really "things people DO wrong in Yardi," not software errors.

Can you think of any common things that turn up among those you work with? I'm not looking for anything highly complicated, or that an admin typically would only have access to. It would really help, and the finished manual will be on my LinkedIn page! (I've already put on 3 basic manuals I'm using for training so that others can see how to model theirs if they want to create one like it.)

Working at a third part vendor I don't technically use Yardi. However, as we Integrate with Yardi frequently we see a lot of things that cause problems for the built in integration process in Yardi.

-Occupant counts. If you are using 3rd party vendors for utility or other billing and base it on occupant counts all occupants in a unit have to be entered into Yardi and marked as an occupant. If you don't, or if you mark occs using a custom field, your billing is going to be more difficult.

-Transfers. Yardi has a built in process for transfers, that many people seem to get wrong. Using the standard method of transferring a resident within Yardi will make things much simpler.

-Notes in the name field. Not a good idea if you are integrating with any third party vendor that bills your residents. If you put notes in the name field and no one notices, those notes are going to end up on a bill or other document that your resident receives.

Those are the ones that come straight to mind. If I think of others I'll come back and add.

Great points! I am, in fact, doing a section on Transfers because unfortunately I think many companies feel it's "intuitive," that you follow through the fields on each screen. But with specific written guidelines it will come out correctly.

The Notes field comment is interesting. I did not have that experience with one past employer, but I think they customized it so no Notes or Memos appeared through any third-party vendor. I'll do some digging on that.

I'm a big fan of "open-sourcing" so if you watch my LinkedIn page in the next month you'll see a manual called "Yardi Manual IV: Extras" and that will be the finished product. I upload a genericized version to Scribd and then post it on my LinkedIn profile so people can format their own companies' Yardi manuals this way if they like. I train in person, but these are designed so that you use them as self-study manuals.

You need to "allow" Crystal viewer from a pop-up. See if you have pop-ups disabled if you are not getting that message.
