Rewarding "Mentors" or "Pros"

Colleagues,

I'm finalizing our Pro Program at The Sterling Group and I'm having trouble deciding on what financial and/or recognition related incentives to offer those who are selected to be the Pro's for their particular position?

In the past, I've used custom logo'd pins that a colleague would wear to distinguish themselves as "something special"... which were also placed on their business cards and email signature, but I've not tried anything financial in the past (apart from a lunch or gift card, here and there).

Have any of you rolled out a Pro Program, or have one in place at your company? If so, what, if anything, do you to "recognize" these Mentors or Pros?

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

With Enthusiasm,

That's a tough question to answer given that most people who volunteer to be mentors don't do so for recognition. They have a desire to help others learn and grow. I'm interested in reading feedback from other members.

Thanks for your thoughts Neil!

What I meant by a Mentor or Pro program, however, wouldn't be on a volunteer basis. It would be selected, nominated even and include the "best of the best" in our organization.

So for this instance, while I'm sure the "best of the best' would enjoy helping others learn & grow... it's also a way for us to recognize those top performers.

You could feature your mentors in your company newsletter. Have one mentor on a bi-monthly basis write a short column offering advice to their fellow employees; i.e., your maintenance mentor writes a column detailing how he organizes his day. This is one way you can to have them recognized throughout the company as one of your best.

Thanks Neil! That's a great idea... and funny timing too, just last week we had this same thought :)
