With some states reopening businesses such as hair and nail salons, bowling alleys, movie theaters, gyms, etc., how is your property handling the reopening or partial reopening of amenities such as fitness centers, laundry facilities, pool, etc.?
I am in Michigan, and we haven't reopened anything yet. Laundry is essential so laundry rooms have stayed open and maintenance has been cleaning them twice per day. Fitness center, spa area, and clubhouse have been closed since mid-March. No tours since mid-March and no one in my office unless you are one of my trusted vendors.
Who needs these things to open? Smh. No one that is opening now is seeing a decrease in cases per our own federal guidelines for opening. It’s crazy.
I would say the local apt communities should create an unified approach to keep closed, prospects and residents can’t complain if everyone does the same. But that’s just my two cents.

Amy Catherine Biles GA is opening nail salons, beauty salons, barber shops, bowling alleys and tattoo shops Friday. Monday restaurants reopen....it is craziness and way too soon for this. Our numbers are climbing and our governor is opening everything up!
Karey Roberts Landers But Mayor Holt, along with Tulsa's Mayor and Norman's Mayor has said Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman will continue with shut down until at least May 1.
I live with kids in a building with no amenities. We take them to a field nearby to play where they can be near nobody. And there are a trillion online kids workout, dance and movement videos for free.
Slowly...cleanliness schedules for common areas, social distancing in gyms and common areas, no more coffee bars or common foods, masks for emoyees, many things will be our new norm. Have conversations with your comp. Just becsuse your officials say open..you are privately owned and csn open at your pace. Good luck!
Georgia....... curious to see what other communities will be doing. We plan to discuss possible changes the middle of next week. But I am in agreement with the person above that we should all stand strong and keep closed for at least 3 more weeks.
In my opinion once things open back up it’s only a matter of time before they’ll shut down again. In my county they are still reporting 60+ new cases daily.
The amenities should stay closed however long it takes for people to get over them, then we can remove them for good. They are nothing but a major pain in the butt
My mobile home parks with pools and clubhouses are in MI, OH, IA, IN and GA. The offices have been closed to the public since mid March. All transactions are done through email, US mail and telephone. Rent can be paid through the mail, the drop boxes located at each property or on line. I am not opening any of the amenities including pools, clubhouses and gyms until there’s a successful vaccine. The liability is too tenuous. My managers and maintenance personnel are safe while at work. I can’t control what they do after hours.
