Handicapped Parking Space was created by Anonymous
I work for a privately owned, HUD funded public housing apartment complex in South Carolina. We had a resident request a handicapped parking spot for his disabled wife in front of their apartment and we put up a sign and painted the curb blue. When we put in the handicapped spot, we told him that the spot was not his specifically, and it would be available to anyone with a handicap tag. His neighbor across the street now parks there due to her having a handicapped tag as well. Now the parking place is creating a constant disturbance. I get calls daily from one or the other saying how one "parked too close on purpose" or another "dinged their car". They argue out loud in the street about it. Very childish behavior from both parties. I've sent out letters and had meetings with both parties, and it will be quiet for a week and then back to the same behavior. The spot isn't handicapped accessible, it's no different than any other spot in the complex. It's just directly in front of both of their apartments. Can I remove the handicapped signage due to the constant disturbances that it is causing?
