Hi there, just like you I'm also searching for a pc. My laptop is about to crash anytime so I would need to get a new one. I suggest why not buy a laptop instead of a netbook even if it costs a bit more since it's more useful than a netbook.

Hi Tara-- How are you? I have heard good reviews on a few brands, Dell, HP, and Acer. I think Charity Hisle just got herself one. I will find out what she bought and see if she can comment. Did you check out any reviews?

I am looking to get one too soon :)

I have the HP net book. One of the main reasons I chose it was because the keys on the keyboard were larger than the other brands I looked at while at Best Buy.

Tara,

I have the Aspire One. It's small, light weight, and the keyboard feels like a standard laptop keyboard (but without the number pad). It was very affordable at $300, and came with a 3 month trial of Student/Home Office. It was less than the DELL or the HP I looked at.

This isn't my primary computer. I use it when I travel, on consultations, speaking and training engagements. The battery is the smaller one, so it only lasts about 2.5 hours on a charge. Another downside is that I don't have a DVD drive so I bought a large thumb drive to transfer data to/from my main machine. Finally, the last downside is that it does seem a little slower at boot up so I rarely turn it off.

The reason it is so small is because it doesn't have a fan. Although it doesn't get as hot as a regular-sized laptop, you cannot leave it on and store it in a laptop bag or it will overheat.

I hope this helps!
