OK folks, I am sorry as we are into a point in our country's history which will either make or break us. So, I am on my soapbox yet again! We go about our busy lives earning a living, putting a roof over our heads and paying the bills. Those fighting got the office of President can win by popular vote; however, the problem is the Electoral College and there money can buy votes. 271-275 votes of the Electoral College is not hard to buy. Give each $1,000,000.00 and all for checking a box. Those in the Electoral College are supposed to vote the way their region went; however, what if they do not? There are only 7 states which have a penalty and none have been tested yet on whether or not they will stand under the constitution or not. So, the fine is I believe $20,000.00. So, if you have a million dollars what the hell is $20,000 fine?

So, I see it as the rich (big corperations: energy, pharma, chemical, etc) can buy who they want into office. We really need to watch the Electoral College, because you do not know what the integrity of the people are that will be placed there.

You see what citizens are voting for on election day is a group of electors appointed by the political parties who chose the president on the citizens’ behalf. Are you starting to get the picture?

So what about the people living in Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands? Did you know that even though they vote, their votes are not counted in the Electoral College because they aren’t states and they don’t have a special constitutional amendment to recognize them?

Hey, you say that is not a lot. Well that is 4.4 Million people live in the territories! This is more than Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska & Delaware. Combined.

Now you want to know why our public schools are not for the elite, because the elite send their kids to private schools. They want us dumb and stupid, so we can feel like we are doing something when in reality their money is going to make it where they get what they want and keep us poor suckers where we are and throw us a bone now and then!

OK, so now here is where you need to really get scared! Did you know 87 times in the past the electors have voted against the wishes of the very people who elected them.

The original reason that the electoral college was set up was because back in the early times of our country news traveled too slow, so there were those selected by their states to vote on behalf of their state. This is no longer the case as we have television, radio, phone, computers and all other sources. I say we need to do away with the Electoral College and go for the popular vote.

There are many people thinking that they are voting for the President, but in reality they are voting for the electors who will cast votes in December on who the President will be!

When I was younger I was very ignorant to this process and then I started really listening and checking into things. This computer age can be a great thing for information and getting informed!

Hey, remember the Al Gore and Bush Junior escapade? Did you know Al Gore had the popular vote by 1/2 million people? Not saying I wanted to see either one in, but given a choice my hat was in the ring for Gore! Wish there were other choices!

Today, it has to be we the people and those we have in congress and the House should carry out what we the people want. So, my next topic will be why do we not limit the term politicians can serve in Congress and the House? Since what year did this become a profession? Our President is limited to two four year terms, so what not the others?
