I would say Technology advancements, hands down (and that they are seemingly more embraced).
For years and years property management, in my opinion, has been so behind the times from a technological standpoint and it's refreshing to see so many companies embracing social media, online leasing, LMS systems, etc... they are truly so helpful to our business!
If I had the tools that are available now when I was on-site, I can only imagine how much more productive I would have been (I mean, who remembers ledger cards?)
I agree, technology has moved quickly over the last 5 years and I for one am looking forward to a near paperless environment.
I also think education requirements have increased in the same time frame. Nine out of 10 companies recruiting for RPM/DM positions now want candidates with 4-year degrees, CPM or CPM Candidate. I've also noticed I'm receiving resumes from more degree holders for on-site manager positions.
