I am new to this community and I am so excited to have found it! I have been in Property Management for almost 10 years and I have worked in 3 different states. Throughout my journey I have encountered to much to hold inside so I am working on a project and I could use your help. There is Chicken soup for everyones soul except for the poor Property Manager and Staff. Please if you wouldn't mind sharing some stories that you would allow me to use. I won't use any of your information if unless you want me to of course ;)

We have all encountered Crazy residents, like for example I have had a woman swear at me on several occasions telling me that I do not care that there is someone that lives in her pipes and they call her name. I have had an 8o year old woman point in my face and tell me that I am fired because I leased out an apartment that she was going to tell her grandson about... I should have known, right? I have witnessed a young girl get into her car and go full speed in Drive when it should have been in reverse and she drove directly into the building only to end up in someone's bathroom with a naked person in it! We have found an old man dead in his apartment naked with a glass of Jack Daniels and an unlit cigar in his hand.

As we all know this job can be rewarding too. I had a sweet old man come in the office one day in complete disarray. He told me that his wife went to the hospital, was diagnosed with a brain cancer and he didn't know what to do. He couldn't see very well and he knows of a friend that could drive him, but couldn't find his phone number. As I asked as many questions as I could to locate this man on the yellowpages.com, he told me that he had married to her for over 50 years and he didn't know what to do with out her. He began to cry. It broke my heart. I found his friend and he just hugged me and thanked me. I know that there was nothing I could do to stop his pain, but I got to be the person there for that moment to make him feel like he had somebody.

I could go on for days and get into detail, however its so much more exciting to read everyone elses stories. I am really looking forward to your feedback.

I just saw your post, Jennifer. You are so right! There are all kinds of stories. I know I have shared several on this site, too. I will think of a couple and post later, but I am sure others will also add theirs, too when they see this. Thanks for the topic!

Hi Jennifer. I am from the UK and I am a Property Manager in London. I am quite younge, 23 and have been doing this job since I was 18 and I have to say it has opened my eyes so much. I am not sure if it is just me that think this but it would appear that some of the worlds craziest people seem to be leaseholders and reside in blocks of flats... why is that? most of them seem to suffer from OCD , controlling nature, demanding, very smart and very professional yet have to be spoon fed on the simpliest things.... blocks of flats seem to make the smartest people go to jelly! On the other hand I have met some of the nicest kindest people along the way. story number1. now this will make you laugh. There was a block I managed and there was a roof issue which was effecting the top floor flat owing and he was having leaks etc. Before this issue occured I would speak to him on a weekly basis, very friendly, my emails usually started of with HI, how are you hows the weather there etc and his were the same. Throughout one month I was keeping him updated on the leak situation and how i was resolving it, as always, when I emailed him my emails started with , Hi how are you, how is the weather where you are and then I went on to update him in the email. The next day, my manager gets a formal complaint frm this leaseholder about me and it was something along time lines of " I am not very happy that my property manager asked me how I am when I have a leak! or asked me how the weather was, I feel that she is taking the micky out of my situation and mocking me by asking how i am and how the weather is" I kid you not, this "complaint" consisted of 3 pages......... an example of how a property manager can never do anything right and the sooner you come to terms with that fact, the better a property manager will perform. Story number 2! I mention at the beginning of this that people, that live in blocks of flats seem to suffer from seriouse OCD for some odd reason. For example, I had a call, from a leaseholder, they first called my land line, I could not answer at the time. Straight after they called my mobile, then they emailed me then they called my land line again, kept hitting redial. I finally asnwered and it was only to tell me the bin men hadnt been.................. seriously, what is wrong with
these people. 3rd story, some woman tried to claim compensation for tripping over the commmunal door step while she was drunk... yes she actually submitted a law suite........ i have so many more! if your want to know id be more than happy to tell :P
