Local News in my Community

The link below is to our hometown newspaper. It contains an article about an apartment fire that caused $600,000 damage. The community is a small,older community that is Tax Credit and accepts Section 8 vouchers.

The original news article was about the heroism of some local police officers who arrived on the scene of the fire first and helped several residents escape.

It turns out the cause of the fire was a tenant setting fire to her boyfriend while he slept.

This article would be a good teaching article. It contains:
1. Domestic Violence
2. Mental Illness
3. Intentional property damage
4. Criminal Activity
There could also be maintenance issues if smoke detectors were not working. There should also be an emergency plan in place.
