Founded in 1994, Rents.Com has always strived to be, “Your Online Rental Resource.” Our goal was simple, to offer visitors to our site the ability to browse through a multitude of goods and services that could be rented. In the early days of the internet, the technology did not exist to effectively display the products that were available in the rental market. Today, however, the capabilities of the internet are limited only by our imagination.

In early 2009, the current iteration of Rents.Com was conceived to answer the question, “Why can’t the providers of rental goods and services use the power of the internet to demonstrate their rental products to consumers or end users?” While trying to think outside the box, Rents.Com came up with the solution of using video technology. What is unprecedented about the Rents.Com concept is that the demonstrable attributes of rental products can now be hosted on a high quality, purpose built (S.E.O.) search engine optimized website that is limited to registered providers of rental goods and services. What this means to the user, is that unlike a search for “Apartments” on the leading video website which might yield anything from movie trailers to pornography, a search for “Apartments” on Rents.Com will yield only “Apartment” videos. Moreover, Rents.Com is unique in that each listing is geographically identified and contains a user written description of the rental video or photographic montage.

It's great to see more options for online streaming video tours. Competition is good for the apartment industry. Streaming video providers/syndicators may in-fact have some collective business-synergy when it comes to apartment video sharing... the internet IS a 'web' and apartments need to have multiple sites - or at least multiple venues for their video(s). There are challenges like streaming player aspect ratios and format specs -- as well as license terms, etc. for video sharing sites. But it looks like 2010 will FINALLY put video tours in the spotlight.

Congratulations on your launching early this year. Virtual tours/video tours are great for those who really do not have time to go around house-hunting. I was in your website and saw that you only had real estate rent-outs. Costume rentals would come in handy during the halloween season.
