Has anyone made the jump from multifamily apartment management to HOA management?

How different is it?
What kind of skills would I need?

What about mobile home park management?

The annual HOA dues or fees are usually the biggest difference along with a given association's board. There are certain budgetary items, and the budget itself, that are dependent on the dues/fees. There are also board meetings for various asundry items where votes are required for a decision to be made. If you represent the HOA big decisions are tend to be time and people intensive
Specific skills needed for this type of management are; patience, communicate well (verbal as well as written) and undestand HOA protocol for meetings (call to order, point of order, minutes of meetings, etc).

I hope his helps.

Thanks.

Has anyone gone from apartment management to mobile home parks?

I had an opportunity to 'assist' on a short term basis at a mobile home park several years ago and it did not seem all that different; granted my responsibilities and duties were limited in scope.

We have mobile home parks around here that even the police won't drive through, especially after dark.

I would suggest just hitting one's self in the head with a baseball bat and get it over quickly.

Herb, the problem is that crime is equal opportunity... One of my peers at a site for a former employer needed to be fitted for body armor due to a shooting at her property.

It does not matter if the property is a Class A high rise, or it is run by someone who just likes the $$ to come in every month....
