Pro: Very good PMS, multiple approved interfaces, very detailed reporting with custom reporting available. Con: Expensive and Yardi is huge company. Difficult to get a support person and get comfortable with them because they tend to move them around a lot.

We’re switching from ResMan to Yardi. I’m just trying to get ahead of the problems. This is not a decision I fully support but it’s not optional.

Careis Lassman - got it. If you are a conventional multifamily asset, then the differences are unlikely to be life changing on the property level (not sure if you’re onsite or not). Yardi’s interface is going to be different and you will probably use more Yardi products. From a corporate level, as you said accounting will be stronger, reporting may be stronger, and there’s more access to certified consultants with Yardi.

Love yardi on the back end for financials. The reports are very detailed and you can pull a report on just about anything you need. The software hasn’t changed much over the years so it’s easy to use once you do the initial training. You can really customize it for your communities needs.
Hate CRM!! Ridiculously slow! Difficult to use when it’s supposed to be easy. I prefer entrata when it came to generating leases due to the amount of work you have to do to set up a lease. My leasing staff hates CRM as well.

Best financial reporting package in the industry. Cons - difficult for new users to learn and navigate interface. Not user friendly for on site. Redundant navigation menu; sidebar "Reports" and header "Reports" contain different report choices. EXPENSIVE to have custom reports made.

After I spend many months with Entrada, I would not recommend Yardi. I have worked primarily with Yardi for decades. Check out Entrada much easier and I love love love it.

CRM keeps being mentioned.... I'm not familiar with that brand. I see property management CRMs like Knock and Aptly..... Which one are you guys talking about? Or are there good PM CRMs?

Yardi is absolutely terrible. It’s like Windows 97 but worse. It only runs on internet explorer. Get appfolio! I’ve been trying to get my company on the appfolio train forever!

I managed a commercial property of retail stores then went to apartments. Yardi was designed for Commercial Purposes. Appfolio is better for Apartments and Housing Rentals.

Data integration, fees for reporting packages. etc.
MRI / Realpage & Yardi are in trouble because of the technology their sandboxes are built on ( Two use .net /ASP and the other uses 5 flavors of PHP ).

Build your own and only build for the resources you need, most of these are bloated w/ features and services that you will never use but you will pay for them. Not sure why everyone flocks to our vendors for solutions.
How can you have a competitive edge when everyone is using the same vendors and products? You can't.

When I was hired here (Project Based Section 8 property)we were using Yardi Classic. Within a year they upgraded to Yardi Voyager. Much better program but if you have never used the program it is a STEEP learning curve. After 6 years I am fairly comfortable with it, but I do not think that it is very user friendly. Lots of technical stuff that makes it hard to go in an do "repairs" on your own mistakes/ You always end up having to contact support for them to do it and sometimes it is days before they call back. AND like someone mentioned earlier you never know who is helping you. Sometimes I think I know more about the system than they do!
Overall I give Yardi Voyager 8 out of 10

Hey Donna, would you recommend Entrada for lead tracking, following up with prospects, guest cards etc?
