Yes. Every owner is different.
My prior owners in Florida only allowed a 20% discount for 2 employees. I’ve had owners offer full concessions and some not offer any.
My current owners are the best, though.
I’ve been with 9 companies at this point. Each one has been a 20% up till my most recent employer.... they give 30% off????
I feel that 30% is too much compared to the budget in salary, but that’s just me????

My last community was a luxury high rise so they offered a larger discount since the rent was so high — there I had 45% off. My current community (if I lived on-site) would offer 20% and only if it’s been budgeted.
companies should pay employees enough to afford the rents where they work ????????♀️
Discounts are nice but what if you want to move off site? You loose that 20%.
Deirdre Gaye oh they paid well too haha they were just really nice. I swear if I had said “can I have it for free?” They probably would have. They were a real estate group from Norway and were awesome. Gave me $15k after my wedding as a gift towards my honeymoon. They were awesome to work for!
I feel that this is such a contentious issue. I take issue with large companies and large properties that only give a 10-15% discount on rent. This amount seems fair if it’s a small property, but the behemoths should give you a fully comped apartment, PERIOD! It’s insane the amount of money these properties take in and they insult you with a miserly 10%. We work hard for them. We deserve more.
I typically got 20% off, but towards the end of my employment (I chose to get out) they offered me 50% off the rent because they did not want me to leave. The rent in the complex I was living at the end of my tenure was 1799, so 50% off helped. We eventually bought a house and we moved off site. This is back in 2003-2004.
I really think they should give more off to employees. Because having employees on site helps sell it and the property is looked after 24/7, to me that is priceless.
We give 20% off but we don’t allow employees to live at the property they work at. Mainly because we want them to stay sane and not feel like they have to look over the property 24/7 or be bothered by residents after hours. The other reason being if they cause any issues, they aren’t overseeing themselves.
I get $150 off/month and my supers get a free apt; at previous company my Lead Mtnc Tech and I paid $25/month and the rest of the property staff got 25% off
Yes, we get 25% off our rent. I've been working here for 12 years and I have lived on property for 9 years. When you live here, you are basically always on call for something. I go over and beyond doing extra work around the property on a daily basis picking up trash, cleaning the pool, etc off the clock so I feel it's fair.
Yes 20% for any employee, 100% for manager or maintenance that is the designated live on and $1000.00 for a designated live on that is not a manager or maintenance supervisor. Just remember any employee living on-site regardless of job description requires the higher maintenance work comp. code due to their live on status in CA.
We offer 25% to 35% off market rates. It is so great when your leasing team can tell their prospects how much they will enjoy living there and they know because they are residents too!
Yes, 25%. But they have to sign an agreement that if they separate from the company for any reason their rent automatically goes up to whatever the market rent is at that time (the first of the following month).
