Is that a function available in your system or a policy without confirmation? I'm asking because I would like to add that functionality but want to make sure it isn't causing more liability issues that it's worth.
Heather Marie Wow, that's interesting! I can see how some would take advantage of it. Here is something tricky..., even companies that do not promote mobile clocking in, they still have the same functionality if they use most "non-mobile" payroll systems. Employees can usually just go to a website url and clock in on a phone or a computer from in the office or not. What are your thoughts on that?
Wesley Aleshire we have something like that in our dayforce program where I work. To my knowledge it works similarly though I’m not sure anyone’s monitoring it to be honest.
Wesley Aleshire you can lock down a computer's IP address and designate that computer to clock in and out to maintain some control. The system knows if someone clocks in from another IP address
Jill Bounds in this case, it's when a website only allows a person to use a clocking in function when their wifi signal is within the geographical range. This is so that people do not use mobile access to clock in while not actually at the property.
Pay com, has a mobile app. But also uses gps so it shows where you clocked in and out at. We are required to have location on when we use it, otherwise you have to use a office computer.
There are always a small few that ruin it for everyone else. It's more about those that manipulate the loopholes in the system. But I know what you mean.
Our company stopped accepting clocking in/out on a mobile device. In fact, it is now an offense worthy of a write up. Unfortunately a few dishonest employees have ruined the convenience for everyone else.
Paylocity offers the feature on mobile. BUT the setting to allow it is specific wifi networks. Essentially, you have to be at the office to clock in. I loved it!! Maintenance liked it b/c they didn't always HAVE to go into office when on call.
