I saw this on a site visit! How many times have you found a random key, known it was probably important but no way to figure out which ring it came off of? Do you have a basket of keys with no home? If you took 10 seconds to stamp the key when you cut it with the code (of course with your random coding system)...your keys could always find the way back to the right ring.
Mind. Blown! ????
And the stamp set is $10 on amazon!!!

Eric Rivera since you use key track let me ask you a question. Do you write on the key tag that has the bar code on it? If you have to pull multiple keys (say for pest control) how do you keep up with which key goes to what unit?
the key tags have a # on the bar code. for ours, 6 digits, when I pull for pest control i just put the last 3 digits since the first three digits are all the same. i write the unit # and the last three on a pc of paper for them, and when we re-hang the keys they get reassigned a spot.
Eric Rivera I am trying to come up with a better system. The previous manager/maintenance team at my current property thought it would be a grand idea to mark the actual apartment number on the key tag ????????♀️. That obviously defeats the purpose of having a barcode on the key tag.
Adrianne Luper that is if the key ever gets tagged. I’m the first to say I am guilty. Keys are given to me and then I can’t remember for what property. I now carry little paper key tags in the back of my car. I like this stamping idea though.

I can dig that. Idk if it’s common knowledge as it’s still relatively new, but Keytrak has a less expensive system called Guardian that isn’t as pretty, but still gives all the same reporting and accountability functions as the full keytrak.
Our KEYper HC was designed for properties and is full featured...best system available for properties. The price is extremely affordable.
