So in the beginning of me starting my new community residents were upset because I didn’t email the whole community introducing myself. Is this something that most community managers do?
Greg Szymanski but what about now? Property management turn over is always high with someone quiting, fired, promoted transferred or temping. That’d be difficult I’d think
I have introduced myself on most properties but the 2 I didn’t I felt the shift in resident relations. I have always done it since and it has never brought me anything but good knowledge and vibes. It helps you get a pulse on the community you’re entering.
I didn’t know that was “old school” I’ve done it when I became a PM 2 years ago. It’s professional common courtesy to let people know there’s a new sheriff in town
I had a resident meet and greet! I was able to introduce myself and explain my vision for the community. We had snacks and drinks and I even had a short q&a session.
With COVID I would say a nice email with a picture would suffice.
I think the concern is that it may not make the job “easier,” but it most definitely makes it more fulfilling to have people who feel that they can trust you to always do your best to help them- makes life more fun
Several years ago when I took over my first property, I hosted a breakfast meet and geet. It allowed the residents to come by and chat. Nowadays, everything is very different. Ideally, your property would have some presence in social media, and you can connect with your residents that way. The very, very least, you should send out in the monthly newsletter.
