I live on site and had issues with people knocking on my door so I made a sign that says "do not knock on this door unless you are delivering food"
Lastnight my resident showed up to ask me a question... and made sure to bring a snickers bar with them. Touche
I live on site and am waiting for the day when a resident knocks on my door. It’s literally a worst fear of mine and had a dream recently that a disgruntled resident was trying to break into my apartment.
I've lived on site for 13 years now. I have a sign that reads "Gone Fishing" with the Office number on it and at the bottom it reads: Do Not Knock. It only took once for the red hair to catch on fire when they knocked. Haven't had issues since! ????
I had a resident knock on my door Christmas Eve and told me I HAD to open the office to get his package....it was a Santa gift for his son that had been delivered 2 weeks earlier...then he reported me the day after Christmas for not doing it

I live on site and just don’t answer the door if I’m not expecting someone. If it’s a resident, my husband knows that I’m “asleep”.
Plus, it’s actually in our lease that the staff shall not be approached regarding properly related matters outside of normal business hours in a business setting, unless it’s a maintenance emergency which should be called in appropriately.
At 11pm I had someone knock on my door to ask to borrow my plunger. She said her toilet was clogged. I told her she could just have it and then she brought it back. Ew. And that’s why I will never live on site again! I like my privacy!
Ring Peephole cam. Can see who is there. Answer with a funny accent like a hillbilly or something... Wrong apartment lol. Unless hillbilly is a protected class in your area. ????
When I lived on-site, if I was off duty and a resident approached, I kindly let them know to contact the office with their question and it would be answered during business hours, but like them I am a resident too and during my personal time, it was just that, personal time. Unless an emergency, I would not be dealing with the issue at that moment. It seemed to work. As my boss said, friendly to all, friend to none.
I was pissy about it until a kid beat on my door to tell me his apartment (sharing a wall with me) was on fire. ????
He didn’t bring me snickers.... I think I would have let that one pass, too.
One Sunday a resident contacted on call service and demanded that I be told to come unlock the apartment door across from hers (occupied unit) bc she had bought a large sofa and they couldn't negotiate turns to get it moved inside her apt without the door across the hallway opened. She was livid that they wouldn't call me and knew I was home bc she could see my balcony door was open from her balcony. Even if it was regular hours I wouldn't have opened the neighbor's door for her
