I totally get what you’re saying. When we were interviewing, we were having the same issues with people not showing up for interviews. The best part is when maybe a week later we still haven’t filled the position and the ad is still listed, they apply again! So we started keeping a spreadsheet listing all the people who applied and then listing if we scheduled an interview or not and if they showed up. That way we could reference it if we had to list an ad again and we weren’t interviewing or trying to interview the same people that didn’t show up the first time. Apparently those people don’t want a job bad enough.
In NewOrleans experiencing the very same thing or if they do show up with experience they want double what they’re currently making since now they are “ essential workers”???? then I see postings on indeed for mgrs in Texas at $16 per hour, which I think is an insult. What is happening to our industry
I saw something similar for managers. No thank you I will not be applying for your $16 an hour job. I can go work at Target for that with a lot less stress and a lot less responsibility.
I'm a recruiter and the amount of people no showing is at an all time high. Had 3 of 5 last week no show for a maintenance supervisor role. So frustrating.
Been there! I had one who verbally accept the offer and then ghosted me! Never signed the offer or return calls or emails.
Back to the drawing board ????♀️. Good luck!
I just can’t anymore with the lack of maintenance team members anymore. 2 job postings in 3 months, total of 5 applications and 2 hires who already quit
But we were having this problem before this whole virus. Getting skilled maintenance is rough. Getting guys that can pass a drug test... harder.
I hired a MS on contingency of passing background and drug test. He was skilled... I thought I finally found a good one. Yeah... drug test. I figured weed. He told me it was meth. I was shocked... never expected that one. ????????♀️ last one I hired on contingency. Lol
Sorry to hear this. I've been dealing with the same. Schedule an interview, confirm the interview and then a no show. I've hired someone, they accept the offer only to decline the offer a week later stating they decided to stay where they were as their current employer gave them an offer they couldn't decline. ????♀️ It's rough out there but hang in there.
One time I hired someone simply because they showed up to the interview. They were the only person that showed up. I don’t recommend doing that as they didn’t make it through training, but I was desperate.
