When I was on-site, I had a resident who was laying out by the pool in his underwear. He seemed genuinely surprised when I told him he couldn't do that.

Oh, and there was one girl who was always doing crazy stuff - putting foil over her windows so she could tell if someone had come in through the windows; she complained about people sneaking into her apartment through the air ducts; neighbors would report her standing outside at night with her arms raised to the sky saying "here kitty, kitty". Her parents came & took her away.

Thats sounding like schizophrenia. Had a resident similar. Had plastic on all the mirrors in the bathroom and had a hand mirror hanging on top of the plastic, way to keep from “two way mirror spying”. All the drain holes were plugged with clothes. Toilet seat always had something heavy on it or taped closed until use. All hvac ducts were closed up with plastic and tape. She used floor fans and space heaters. Apartment was very clean, just very full of paranoia signs. Oh and she had silverware taped to her blinds, I guess to district the mind control signals.

I had the same thing. A woman covered her ducts and swore someone had been eating her food. It was very sad.

Resident insisting something is coming out of his vents. That it burns when it lands on him and smells like perfume. He tells my maint guy "smell me!! Get over here and smell my face" Maint is like, yeah...not going to do that. Tenant insisted the upstairs neighbors were putting something into his vents to poison him. (Not even possible.) And he had all the vents covered with trash bags and the system turned off while insisting things were still coming out and landing on him.
We had the whole system blown out and there was absolutely nothing in it. ????
Drugs aren't good for you, but guess it makes for entertaining stories.

Oh, and we had a resident hide himself in the dryer from the police. How a grown man can fit into a dryer is beyond me. All that did was get the girlfriend arrested too for harboring a fugitive. ????????

Took over a property and as the old management was leaving they told us there was a dead guy in one of the units. He died and when his body was released from the morgue the family brought him back so he could lie in state and family members could come and pray over him for a few days. They said they heard the burial was in 3 days so he should be removed then and I wouldn’t have to do anything more. They did remove him 3 days later and all of his belongings. But there were feathers left all over the place. It was crazy. Police said there was nothing they could do.

Had a handicap tenant ( wheelchair/prosthetic legs when needed) call the cops because the handicap parking at the other end of the building (another legally marked personal vehicle in the spot by his unit) was not accessible. Cops show up to find him dragging our snowblower into said inaccessible spot!

Years ago I had 2 units that were across the parking lot from each other they put Christmas lights around their patio and ran an extension cord across the parking lot from one unit to the other they laid a little rug over the cord so when people drove over it wouldn’t damage the cord lol

When I started my 1st on-site job as assistant manager (on the property where my husband & I were currently living), there had been a DEA raid on one of the units just a week or two before. It was on the other side of the property from where I lived so I had not seen or heard it prior to taking the job. Trial by fire! ????????????

1. Field dressing a deer in an upstairs unit tub! Plumbing backed up for the entire building.
2. Resident put DUCT TAPE on her fire sprinkler heads! So the upstairs neighbor couldn’t see her. Single story unit!
3. Resident off their meds accused Maint of stealing their dentures!

I had a resident saying our porter was sending her telepathic messages to become a prostitute and that he came to her house and laid in the center of her bed. She could "feel" the vibrations he left.

We had a resident who tore apart his unit during a drug frenzy. He even tore the drywall off the bathroom walls then crawled into the wall and wrote on the inside of the wall “see someone is living in the wall”. Police and EMTs pry him out of the wall and take him to the hospital.
While he is admitted for a few days, his girlfriend leaves him. We are told since the apartment is still habitable, we have to allow him to return and follow eviction standards for lease violations.
Two days after he has returned, police arrive to arrest him for an armed robbery of a local store. He had robbed the store then run back to our complex. He had been a customer of the store so he was identified quickly.
Even worse, when the police arrived our bank was doing a visit. Luckily the property was large so the bank reps didn’t see the police.
We tried to file a claim against his renters insurance for the damage but it was refused as the policy didn’t cover damage by drug use.

Well I have so many! I had a resident flush sanitary napkins down the toilet, with wings.. the adhesive stuck to the insides of the toilet and the auger would not push through. When I said something to the 40 year old resident she said she didn’t know that they couldn’t be flushed.... how did she get anywhere in life? We replaced the toilet. I had another resident run a car through the building because she was learning to drive and mistook the gas and break petals. Luckily the resident that was moving in that day had changed her move in date.

Sounds as though your tenant went into the Witness Protection Program. Expect a visit from the US Marshall's Service.

This years Christmas toy drive. Even giving away 2 $100 gift card entries for each toy. A total of 2 people brought new toys. The problem however, came up when one resident wanted an entry to bring his childs used toys. Sure Ken, I'll take your clearly old, broken toys because under priveleged children aren't picky about such things. SMH! Needless to say, I did not do a drawing for the gift cards.
