What a great idea! Especially during a time where our residents are facing the most hardship.

I have one too! In the hallway. They take items and leave them.

Except what they don't mention is that half the foods are expired! At least that happens every time we have a food drive. I know there's a senior community nearby where they do this. My residents do this with books and housewares in the laundry room. Luckily they keep it to a minimum and it disappears quickly.

I tried to do this at mine, but I was the only.one that donated anything, so it fell apart pretty quickly. so set up a Facebook group instead and messenger thread for the resident s so they can ask each other when they need something or have something to offer, food or otherwise

We have this at our senior affordable property. It's not just limited to food and the entire community (outside of the property) brings things to stock it with.

Is there a limit on how much they can take?

I've done this for years it's a great way to help & not make the resident in need feel embarrassed or uncomfortable

My residents do this as well. I manage a 55+ location. Usually the items disappear pretty quickly. There's not much that I have to throw out

We’ve done a “fill your fridge contest” where they’d leave reviews on all platforms to be entered into a drawing. Whoever won sends a grocery list to us worth $100 then deliver.
