Best idea! I’ve caught so many crazy things in there that I’m grateful for cameras for! One of the best was a young girl who’s dad was the co-signer decided to have a rager in the gym and leave all the bottles, weed, etc. we had full footage of it and brought her and her dad in and she just kept denying it was her while her dad just told her to shut up and that he’d pay for the damages lol
In hotels, many brands stipulate that you aren’t allowed to have cameras that capture people eating or drinking, exercising, or entering their room. This is because of the guest experience and need for privacy. I struggle with this concept on our current multifamily developments and assets. Cameras are great for capturing misconduct, but it also can make residents uncomfortable and detract from them wanting to use the amenities - knowing that someone is possibly watching them and laughing at them when they have an unfortunate moment or struggling through a workout. My feeling is that you capture people entering and exiting the facilities, and if there are excessive damages to the amenities that cannot be recovered individually, then explore adding additional security measures.
Yes 100%. I'm even for the pool area too. Protect your asset. Instead of the creepy angle, what about this angle.... Woman is running on treadmill late at night by herself and is attacked by someone and didn't see what or who her back was towards them. Cameras are there for protection of all. The ones that have a problem with them are usually the ones up to no good. Something I learned while watching a video on Casino security is that they try to setup "choke points" in camera installation to capture someones face. Like patrons are forced to walk into a more narrow pathway or hallway so that they can get a good view of the persons face. Everytime I review camera footage, I feel that yes I can see the room good, but never can see a persons face real well. Just something to think about as you add cameras. Maybe the hallway outside the gym too or the entry way.
Vendor here. There’s one in my gym. Yea I think “I hope no one has to check that camera.” But I get it. Some exercises are compromising but no one should be doing anything THAT weird in there anyway, lol.

Post notice that the room is under video surveillance, that takes care of any privacy complaints. Add notice to the lease, tenant is aware before move in.
