*Need suggestions please* My maintenance team hasn’t had a break in 7 days since the winter storm blasted Texas (Dallas). I’d like to show my appreciation for their hard work and dedication while staying positive, keeping a smile on their face and not missing a beat! I’m typically pretty creative, but I’m not coming up with anything to really show them love (probably because I’m exhausted, too)
The biggest thing you can show them is gratitude. I don’t care how much someone pays me I thrive on a sincere thank you and good job! Food is great too! I don’t know what I can do to help you but I am open!
Making sure they have things to keep them going, sport drinks and pick me up snacks. If you know of any tools they might need, that’s always a good offer.
Celebrate them daily and then get w corporate and advocate for a bonus check for those that had to sacrifice. I’ve also seen (after the dust settles) operations conduct maintenance appreciation day where they handle a days tasks and give techs a day of relaxation.
I would get them things to keep them warm and going. I bought my guys heated vests last year for Xmas. They loved them!
Send dinner to the family not pizza, an actual meal. Maybe something like Panera or McAlisters
Gift cards for things they use. Gas, Dicks, Maybe a cabin weekend with their family.

I have lists of their favorite things, so today I bought winter hat, socks and Yeti koozies with their favorite team logos, favorite candy and drinks. It was not cheap but my favorite team is worth it
Send food to them and their families! Or let them know they have a free family meal somewhere (delivery/take out/or dine in), we’re in a small area so it’s easy, but a door dash or Uber eats certificate works also!
Supposed to be nice this week...we’re doing a cookout on Tuesday for our team. There’s a million cute ideas on Pinterest for a gift if you’re wanting to do a gift of some kind.
Maybe not for your maint team but I have a friend that received this from her company that is based in a warm state as a “we’re thinking of you” through the bad weather! Thought it would be a great gift for renewals, move ins or I’m Sorry’s.

Lunches and necessary supplies. As soon as possible, extra time off and $$. When my late hubby worked on a time intensive project at EDS, I sometimes received cards, flowers or a gift bag for understanding. They are spending time away from their families in many cases are coming home exhausted.
Honest gratitude always goes a long way. They gave up the time with their families and in many cases, probably left a situation at home that was just as dangerous as the one they walked into at work. They are tired. Their families are tired. Everyone could use a big hug right now and probably a decent cry.
Groceries. Gift card. Dinner for their family but what each of them probably need more than anything right now is time to catch up their lives at home or to relieve the spouse that’s been holding it together while they were working.

I bought lunch for my guys on Friday but this Friday I’m planning a surprise cookout for them at the property! It’s always a good time when we do that! Hopefully by Friday the emergencies will have died down & the weather stays good!
Love all of these great ideas. It might be special to write a letter to each person thanking them for their individual contributions along with the special gift of food, time off, bonus or whatever you are able to do. Hats off to you and your team!!!
When things settle down stagger the schedules so each of them can a few days off in a row and add some paid bonus days. Bless you all in Texas and stay safe!

I'm going to take my guys out for whatever meal they want!! They are my heroes! I've been feeding them all week, but quick stuff. They need steak and lobster!
Some of you that are suggesting blankets, soups etc to keep them warm, not needed in TX anymore, already hit 70 degrees today! Money, time off and food are always big hits.
I love the Spoonful of Comfort gift boxes, those with some time off. When someone gets burned out, it becomes a dangerous situation, so let them rest by staggering the time but order each of them a box, so they won’t have to shop. Thank you for being there for your community, it shows character, respect and dedication. Good Luck.
Do a week of appreciation! Something each day dedicated to them! Maybe breakfast one day, snacks the next, lunch the next day, smoothies, dessert day etc. a full week dedicated to them.
Think of their families, help them with the job to be done in their life that is suffering as a result of the sacrifice they are making for their teams. Give the wife a break with a grubhub card, get the kids some fortnite gift cards. A weekend stay voucher somewhere nice would be deserved it seems.
When you can, extra time off WITH PAY! Your Corp and/or owners need to take care of that. FOOD is always good. They need big time thank you's ESPECIALLY from the "suits"! If it weren't for your Maintenance team, profit loss would have been worse!! And...you too, as well!!
I got an idea reading through these responses. Can you reach out to all your residents through your communication system and ask them to share their gratitude in a very visible way for the team? Have the resident write it down or send to you electronically or even better, post it on the local social media page with a hashtag specifically for your team. Print all the responses to share with your team.

I like the idea of sending dinner to the family.
What about a cookout? Buy everything for fajitas and get the outside grill going. You guys all cook together outside on Friday. Put up a quick darts game or a corn hole set. Invite a few supportive vendors. Just eat, relax, swap stories and have fun for a few hours.
Get up early, get in the kitchen and make them eggs and waffles. Get fresh fruit, whip cream and let them watch you cook and serve them while they smile and eat! Orange juice in flutes! They love breakfast and I bet many of them skip it.
Thank you all for your amazing ideas! I ended up planning a day dedicated entirely to them (this Friday). Waiting for them at the entrance of the parking garage to “valet” park their car. Another team member is escorting them breakfast. We’ll have all their tools and supplies pulled and ready for the pending service requests to start their day. Then we’ll cater in lunch and have cake and confetti poppers at the end of the day. I also ordered all of them new work boots since several got ruined with water damage. Appreciate you all in this group!!!
