What is one of your BIGGEST pet peeves in the industry?
I’ll go first.... When a resident asks you a question and isn’t happy with your answer so they demand to speak to the Manager. When you know dang well she’s just going to repeat the SAME thing you just told them
Unfortunately I had the opposite:
An assistant manager that would say, “would you like to talk to my superior?”
Of COURSE they’ll say “yes.”
What were we paying you for?!?
LIARS. that's my biggest pet peeve. Second to that, people who hand me blank money orders. Close second, people who stand over me, beside my desk, instead of taking a seat in front of me.. especially when I'm already with someone.
Yes! Especially when I'm busting my a$$ trying to do the right thing and go out of my way to help people, and the throw me under the bus to get their way. I wanna choke them!
When you are standing in the available unit with the prospect and they ask you what the square footage is. You’re IN it. Is it big enough? Would you know the difference if I said 998 or 1023? Will your things fit in here or not??? Grrrrr.
When a resident CONSISTENTLY pays late. They get their 5 day & email to see when they have to pay rent cause they can’t get evicted. Seriously?! You do this ALL the time & you don’t know?!?!
My biggest pet peeve! And they don’t leave a message. Then, they see you out on the property and say they’ve been trying to call you and you ask, did you leave a message - their answer ‘oh, well no’
Hahahaha....daily headache!!!!! I'm new to a property but not new to the property management company. But since I'm new to the property, I must NOT know what I'm talking about so I'm constantly getting voicemail forwarded to me from our corporate office. They think just because they call corporate, they will get what they want. Ummmmm nope....there's a reason why I'm here and thats to get this property together. I follow the lease....you violate, you go....period. Calling corporate is not going to save you because they put me here for a reason.
Tenant calls you every month and needs to know what they need to pay! Lived there...forever....ugh. I swear I'm gonna start telling them the wrong amount soon. And we have a portal.
Yes, where is my package, what time do you close, can't be there by then.
When I was onsite mine would have to be when people would come into the office on the phone (or even worse speaker phone) and just bark an order at me. Onetime I had someone say "parking pass" and nothing else. I stopped and said "I'm great, thanks for asking, and how are you?" They looked at me like I was crazy
