I’m in the same boat. We just spent $8000 to replace some of the mailboxes. And now they broke the other set. Trying to find someone to fix it is TOUGH.
Oh, I see. We had the same thing happen in broad daylight. My maintenance man took a picture of the 3 criminals and they chased him, put a gun to his head threatening to kill him and took his phone.
It was a scary time for us.
Contact your local post office. This is a federal crime and they are responsible for investigating. I've had the post office put up cameras and work with the police to catch the people doing it with nothing out of pocket on our end except replacing/fixing the mailboxes when broken into.
Our property had the same issue and started using a door-to-door delivery service called Fetch. It's provided to all residents for free and has worked great!

When it comes to security, sometimes the best defense is a well designed offense. place a package then set up the first camera, the reverse the course till you have most of it covered to the street in 270 degree view ( to get the plate number )

A large amount of account with us added standing officers just for the mailboxes for 1 day all the way to 2 Months recently... something way out of budget but it had to be done.
There is no "one" good answer to this but find a way to deter...
Courtesy Patrol can only fo so much when on a "patrol route" they are onsite for maybe 20- 30 minutes a night, a standing officer usually onsite for 8 hours only spends so much time at each location, so the extreme is a standing officer for just the mailboxes.
The cameras regardless if Viewed or not, with or without a speaker are only one layer, you still need physical person onsite.
PD can show up in 5 min, 4 hours or not at all due to staffing, calls and priorities.
It's best to use as many layers of defense as possible since the actual crime can take just 2 minutes...

Lots of factors play a role in pricing. I believe your in Texas.
For California, a majority of security companies pay the bare minimal wage to officers which is anything from 13-15 dollars an hour. Then add Mark up of 44_52% and you have an idea of price if they are charging you contracted "long term" pricing.
However for special coverages I have seen most companies charge clients between $25- 45 dollars an hour. The reason this price jumps so high is because it's to cover the special coverage request with officers that will most likely hit overtime.
Estimate $300 for every 8 hours needed. Think about how much it would cost if you used maintenance on overtime to watch your mailboxes? Is one cheaper?
Hope this helps. Email me if I can help out a little more with feedback.
