So wanna hear something funny?!
I finally become a “real life” property manager, 200 units, staff of 5.
On my 1st day, my trainer goes on vacation.
Day 5, power goes out
Day 7, Assistant quits, no notice
Day 13, internet goes out for the day. Phone goes out for 2 days
Day 15: Maintenance temp guy shows up drunk, send him home and left with one maintenance guy and 14 vacancies
Day 17, resident runs over another resident, causing broken ribs, busted wrist and list of other bodily harm
Day 26: TODAY... meet my new boss and owner AAAANNNNDDD the leasing consultant quit. No notice
All I could do was
When I asked to be a real life PM....I didn’t ask for this part!

Congratulations on surviving, these are all lessons for your fantastic future. Nothing lasts forever, take it all as learning lessons and take those moments to breathe. You got this!
I have been in the same type of situation, it’s tough for sure! On the bright side, one day will be so calm and you’ll be ahead of schedule, and you’ll have a little time to truly enjoy your awesome property, tenants and coworkers!! I swear, it’ll happen, just keep your head up and stay sarcastic because it brings smiles during the toughest of times (most days)!!
I remember those days! It gets better with experience. You will learn to anticipate certain situations ahead of time, making a good gameplan for just about anything life can throw at you in this industry. Then when the really crazy stuff happens, it won't be as overwhelming. Hang in there!
That’s awesome! You’ll build your own team, chosen by you and they will appreciate you. Be fair and fight for them and they will be loyal to you. It will get easier in about 40 days.
WOW you just gained a years worth of experience and exposure in your first 30 days. That’s Amazing! You’re going to do great! In all seriousness though there are many ups and downs and this can also be a very rewarding career. Hang in there!
After all that your still there! This shows you have the strength and fortitude for the job. One day this will be one of your many property manager stories (and there will be many). Hang in there this is actually a fun job most days. Once you put a working system in place and a loyal team, there will be more laughs then frustrations. You have got this!
I feel you. Yesterday was day 2 back from maternity leave. My whole maintenance staff walked out and ACM quit. Don’t mind me in my sparkly heels scooping poop and sweeping trash enclosures lol.
Stay calm and focussed. What breaks you down makes you stronger. It's possible to get 3 years of experience in 1 year due to circumstances. Hang in there and rise to the occasian. You would not have been promoted in people did not believe in you. Be a postive, confident, & capable leader and your new team willow follow.
Way to learn the hard way! It’s a great time for you to refocus rebuilt and restart a new beginning! You got this! You will make a great PM when you see what you can do to turn it around.
You keep going Sis! One day, one item at a time. You will make it past this part. It won’t be easy, what we do isn’t easy, but it will be interesting and fulfilling
