I have a client that says he has an old pool that would be too much to repair. Considering converting the space to a Tennis Court. Do residents still use tennis courts? I remember other posts here about all the different options for converting tennis courts to other things. Would love thoughts and pictures of conversions. (we are in Northeast) Thanks in advance!

Consider covering it and making an outdoor fitness court - stations with outdoor fitness equipment.

Dog park, playground, community garden. The latter is sometimes supported by local grants and tax credits.

Ask your residents.....
Note, building a tennis court on top of a 12x24 6-8 ft deep fill hole will be a challenge 5 years later for settling.

At a previous property, we filled in pool and turned into dog park.

Short answer no. I worked on repurposing tennis courts to green space, bark parks, playgrounds, etc..

I follow the majority. If your property is pet friendly you cannot go wrong with a dog park. Pet people are drawn to pet parks.

Agreed. It’s hugely popular here. Or my other recommendation would also be making it some sort of a usable patio/family space

Just fyi, you probably need to remove the pool prior to filling in the hole and turning it into a dog park.

Nah just skate park it. That’s all they use the tennis courts for anyways

Why don’t you poll the current residents to see what they’d actually use??

We’ve had two properties actually do away with the tennis courts and put in an outdoor resident lounge with fire pits, grilling stations, comfy outdoor seating and games (cornhole, giant Kenya, etc).

Transitioning the tennis courts into a lounge area with seating, grills, fire pits and sun shades is very inviting. Also adding a safe play area for children by painting the court with a course for bikes or scooters, and adding hop scotch and four square court will make it a fenced and family friendly area.
