Who else has a resident (or residents) that is the self proclaimed “Resident President” of the property? Do these people have jobs? Do they open up their laptop and the first thing is the property website and our availability? Do they walk the property at all hours or stand on their patio watching to make sure we are doing our job and reporting anything and everything?
My favorite so far is taking their own thermometer to check the temperature of the pool to make sure it was heated to their desired temperature over the cooler months.
Love what I do, but I always say…. My favorite residents are the ones I don’t even know.
Resident Commissioner
They negotiate extra parking for residents, regulate all pool visitors and my favorite, tells the contractors how to do their jobs
I have a self appointed "Mayor" and a self appointed "Property Ambassador". They started their own FB page and they bully my staff horribly and encourage each other to give us bad reviews. In the last 3 months we have fixed parking issues, renovated, changed the landscaping for the better, and so much more. Cheese and crackers people! Please go to Woodlake Reserve (Durham) FB page and give us a 5 star review! How can I help you?
Can a property have 5 presidents/mayors? Because we have at least that many! We call them OG's because they have lived there for a long time and act like they own their apartment

I have a lady who is all over the property acting like she runs it. I’ve never had to “fire” someone so many times who didn’t even work for us. Oh and btw, her name is really Karen. Perfect fit.
I LOVE those residents!! I had one that saved more than 1 life with his behavior. He would sit all day and log the time that everyone would come and go through the door. (Video channel on the TV showed the front door) and would turn in his log to us every morning. It was annoying until he reported a resident had not left at his normal time. Turns out the resident was in medical distress and we were able to get 911 out in time. 1 time he witnessed a stabbing in our doorway( not a resident, it was in downtown Seattle and someone ticked off someone else) and was able to give detailed notes and description to the police on who the murderer was. No idea if they were caught or not. But he was a huge hero that night!
Yep. And they proceed to tell you how to do your job without ever lease an apartment in their life. My favorite is the “calling my attorney” threats LOL
Hahahaha oh yes. Love those!
I also love when I send a renewal proposal and the response I get is “Here is what I want to pay. It’s less than what I pay now and nowhere close to the renewal offer. And also can you throw in a free carpet replacement?”
Oh yeah yeah sure! We just sent that out as a suggestion! By all means, whatever you want!
My last property had what I called the “Squad” they thought they owned the property and when I did something they did not liked they emailed my regional to let him know they were not happy!
