Mine: “I was hit in head with a baseball bat at food lion and they stole my rent”.

Crazy part is that she wrote this on an envelop and you can tell she was still drunk and paid her late fees.

I was robbed at gun point while putting my trash in the dumpster.
He made a false police report too.

Lmfao we have one tenant that is constantly late and we have a notepad of his excuses

“Sorry - I had a bump removed… but please don’t worry! It’s benign!”

“Sorry I just started a new job!” (Imagine my surprise when the next day he delivered my groceries to me and missed a ton of items lmao)

“Sorry my mom was really sick so I was out of town.”

"I was hit by a semi" is probably my favorite. She was a serial late payer too. I told her it's incredible she's still alive and able to call on the first to say rent was going to be late! She also paid for several funerals, medical bills, and emergency pet surgeries

When I was leaving stop n shop after cashing check, someone ran out of the swamp, grabbed my purse and ran back into swamp. This person went so far as to file a police report, police reviewed video cameras-showed nothing!

“I was laid off because of COVID”. His bar is next door to my office. We watched him walk to work EVERY SINGLE DAY.

My best one was this month. And a 100% valid reason rather than an excuse. His ex girlfriend carjacked him, stole his wallet...and ran him over...With his own damned car. And then told him to stop overreacting and to get over it. Wow.
