What do you do with packages that are left at residents doors that no longer live there and no way to contact them and the company want take them back? Thanks
We attempted contact, if we got ahold of them then we’d have them pick up their packages.
If we couldn’t get ahold of them and company wouldn’t take back then we’d hang onto them for 30 days. After 30 days we would open see if there was any use. If not, trash. You just treat it similar to when they move and maybe leave something behind. Hold it for a certain time, someone either gets it, donate it or trash it.
Darcy Johnson sadly this is common with people these days. They think if they don't leave a forwarding address or anything then their final bill won't be due.
No way to contact them like bc they weren’t a resident? We require a forwarding address at move out since that’s how security deposits are refunded. If they were a resident and I tried to reach them by phone or text unsuccessfully, I would email them to see how they would like to handle it. If I don’t receive a response within a week, I return it to sender. Usually have to take it to an actual location - the drivers can’t return the package unless there was a signature required for delivery and you refuse to sign for it
We hold packages for 30 days. If not claimed then we open them. Items of value are shared between employees.
Same as this past week, a resident had groceries delivered to her door step that did not belong to her. We waited 24 hours for them to be claimed then disbursed the food amongst employees
Facebook message them for pick up. One of mine confirmed but never showed for items found in storage (baby books, photos, etc). She passed away the day after we were messaging. We found her mother through her Facebook page to pick the items up.
I can't recall a time when a carrier wouldn't let us return to sender...or at least, they took it back. But, I agree with donating to a shelter of you are told to keep it. Keep your documentation.
