The benefits of this for us seem rich and that’s cool! I just hope there are fail safes in place to prevent discrimination. The advocate in me worries this could end up one more unnecessary hurtle for the marginalized.

100% this will be used against someone in a discrimination case.

Yah, as someone who runs a resident screening company, this is going to straight up be sued for under the Fair Credit Reporting Act once this goes live.

As a not so former renter, I wish the same would exist to better hold Landlords accountable on not being slumlords

Renters have the county courts for escrow as well as their county code enforcement agency to help with slumlords with issues with repairs. Renters also have the help of legal aid & over the last 2 years an abundance of organizations helping them with rent & utilities. A slumlord is t bothered by a rating system online. Last week I was given a 1 star rating and the reason was “because it’s too hard to get in” per the poster. She was upset because we didn’t have an apartment available for her to move at her specific time frame.

I'm not talking about the massive 100 unit complexes. I'm talking about the 2-3 unit properties that landlords acquire too quickly to adequately scale proper Property Management protocols....and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt with that statement because there are some investors that have no intent on "properly scaling" those preventive measures to care for the properties adequately

Our property’s not unsafe and cars get broke into all the time YOUR BOYFRIEND broke into YOUR car to get HIS drug money back YOU stole!

There’s not shootings at our property all the time YOU shot yourdamn self before you lept off your balcony because your mistress found out you had a wife!

We’re not slumlords who evicted you because you have children DHS took your damn kids because your a basic pole dancing thing who has drug dealing gentleman over 24/7 and we evicted you because you spent 5 months worth of rent on new furniture and a new car instead of your kids!!!!
