Excuse my language, but WTF:

"A newly introduced bill would prohibit landlords from using credit reports while screening prospective tenants. AB 2527 by Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, D-Fullerton, would also ban property owners from asking about anything that would be included in a report, such as payment history or evictions."

It’s important to interact with Congress when these things are happening. Write, write, write.

Scenerio: prices of apartments, a,b, c class will all go sky high so only individuals with extremely high incomes will be able to lease. The good hearted landlords who try to keep their apartments affordable for normal working class people will dissappear.

Definitely California. The nation needs to fight this, though.
What's next, we can't charge rent someone can't pay, so they get to pay what they can?
OR Cali will just raise rents even more which also has a negative effect on the nation.
These people passing bills have their heart in the right place trying to close the gap, but these actions just create different problems.

I think that’s the part that needs to be conveyed, along with proposed solutions toward affordable housing initiatives.

Agreed. This all or nothing for every policy continues to baffle me.
There are middle grounds, why politicians can't see it is beyond me.
I vote for an election like the masked singer, based on policies, not parties.

Try renting in Minneapolis. This is nothing compared to the laws we have now. Just horrible

All while on todays evening news in a Dallas TX the Police stated the high crime in an area with a cluster of apartments that they can’t solve the crime problem if the “apartments don’t do a better job with their background checks”!

Just another course of action to make people have no incentive to be responsible citizens

I work for the Apartment Association of Orange County (Asm Quirk Silva represents parts of OC) - this is one of the top tier bills we are working to kill this year along with the California Rental Housing Association - there is a national group trying to push this idea in EVERY STATE - this is through your state legislatures.
Get in touch with your local associations and get involved - this is how you can fight back
UPDATE - she dropped the bill just a few minutes ago - its dead.
Now we have about 40 other bills that hurt Multifamily housing - GO HELP KILL THOSE TOO!!!!

I guess you'll just have to screen them based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, and disability.

Just call us private investigators! We all should be/have to be more on our game anyway...do the research...call the contacts, verify them dig deep...its alot of time but worth it. Google is our best friend....we will adapt and overcome. If you can suceed as a PM, you can do anything...well at least 8 jobs anyway...therapist, maintenance, trainer, team leader, social worker, project manager, administrator, customer service rep, cleaner...and more! Plus we were front line in pandemic, making sure people had a roof over their head!!! We got this!!!
