Thanks for posting. I tend to disagree with this article. I do think Facebook Pages are not for every business and the author of the article may be one of them. Yet, Facebook is far more than ego gratification.
I feel that some of your residents and prospects spend a lot of time on Facebook and for many of those people the best way to keep in touch with them is via Facebook. They'd prefer that to an email or a newlsetter about your community. So its really reaching out to your clients where they are, using a platform that some of them prefer.
Very interesting article. I was wondering the same thing and I don't know what to think. I created our fan page last week and after going through all of that I hope it works. Fan pages are more difficult to create and update than I thought (than they should be). I for one have never participated as being a fan of anything on Facebook and if I am a fan it's because a friend invited me but I've never looked at the page. I have a feeling that many people are in the same boat as me but it's hard telling how many.
James, It would be great if you could keep us posted on how this goes for you. I am trying to formulate a plan for the social media aspects of how we connect/communicate with tenants and prospects. So real life feedback/examples are always appreciated.
