Illegal dumper on the property: I have his name and address. What's the next step?

Has anyone here ever gone after an illegal dumper on their properties yet? I've got a connection, so I have his name and address.
What's the next step? Send an invoice and then to collections? Police Report? I'm in the Houston, Harris County Area....

I turn them over to the police. It’s a crime here. Petty crime but still a crime. My hope is always that it’s printed in our blotter on our news site and in our newspaper to deter others honestly

Steph Kwek well, the poster is in houston and so am I. Police don't come out for major offenses much less illegal dumping. Our police force is so understaffed its embarrassing.

I had found some Sherwin Williams paint cans dumped outside my dumpster once. On the label it has an account number, I called the store and got a name and number. Found out it was a local handyman, I called him up and told him I had some work for him and if he wanted to swing by I would show him what I had. Several hours later he shows up and I pointed to the crap he dumped and said that was the job for today. I told him if he picked it all up and removed it I wouldn’t file a report. He never came back and dumped there again!

I am in SC, so I am not sure if this helps in your neck of the woods or not. Since we have signs posted "for resident use only" etc, I first sent the person a certified letter putting them on trespass notice, along with a bill for the removal costs giving them 15 days to pay or I would file a police report. They ignored it, so on day 16 I filed a police report for illegal dumping and provided them copies of the letter and invoice. The reporting officer then did a courtesy "knock and talk" with the person at their residence and a few days later I received a check in the mail, so I withdrew my complaint. I assume having an officer show up at their door was enough to let them know I wasn't backing down.

Watchtower Security can monitor your dumpsters with cameras to get a description and license plate. Video evidence can help tremendously when pursuing further action!

We called the police and had him arrested/ticketed for illegal dumping and then billed them for the tires that were disposed of

Bobbi McDowell you can't do a police report in houston, because they never answer the non emergency line. You could drive to the nearest substation, but forget calling.

Call 311. I think there is an illegal dumping report you can make. I have a big problem. About every 3 months I have to get a 30 yard to haul it all off. Between illegal dumping and the amount of furniture left by evicted residents it's a big issue. Especially mattresses!

Erik McKinster 311 or 211 are the numbers to call. 311 knows which division for the city services you should talk too. Good luck in trying to callthe HPD non emergency line. I have been on hold for over an hour before.

Because no one wants to take them! Our city dump won't, they have to be cut up which is beyond time consuming fir maintenance. Most evictions are moving in with family. I could fully furnish a 2 bedroom apt with the amount of furniture that has been left just this year alone!
