Attention: Communities with Concierge! Does anyone allow Concierge to receive tips? We are implementing something called eTip which allows them to receive tips electronically if residents scan a QR code. I’m looking for best practices, lessons learned, etc!

Personally, if you go electronic with tips, then they'll have to be taxed or 1099 on those tips. If they get cash then it's an honor system on their part. There is many Pros and cons on this issue.

eTip company says the tips can come to us twice a month and we can include them in their W2 pay to ensure withholding. Or we can go on honor system that declare them. They gave us both options.

The honor system is a 1099 which is reported to the IRS, and cash is in their pocket, Like I said there are a lot of pros and cons when you start dealing with tips, it's not cut and dry
