Hiring Managers - what are your thoughts on Canva resumes or resumes with a headshot? Do they catch your attention more? Do you have a preference if there's a picture or not?
I personally prefer an old school resume saved as PDF from Word, but I'm curious as to what everyone else is seeing and your thoughts! Figured this could be fun and help others collectively improve resumes

n this day and age, I would reject any and all resumes with a photo, period. I don't want to open myself up to a potential discrimination lawsuit because an applicant doesn't get hired and appears to be [insert whatever here].

If it's poorly done, it doesn't matter what the format is.

I honestly don’t care what it looks like overall as long as it doesn’t look like they’re hiding something (weird gaps in employment or vague descriptions) and please for the love of all things holy check for typos.

The best resume format is one that will pass APS (applicant tracking systems). These systems scan your resume for keywords. If you do not have enough keywords related to the JD then it will be auto archived.
For Multifamily roles I would not use a pic. Often headshots on resumes are used in the creative space. But do ensure your LinkedIn profile is listed.
    Hope that helps!

A lot of my friends who had Canva resumes weren't getting interviews, but the moment they switched their resumes back to the old-school/regular (and my preferred) style of resume they started getting interviews.
